BIKING, WALKING AND TRANSIT
Physical activity and mobility is important for good health and wellness. People need to get to school, jobs, and other places to get their daily necessities and participate in community life. They also need safe green spaces and trail systems to exercise or just be outdoors, whether they are walking, rolling, or participating in sports. Public health advocates and policymakers are exploring how our traditional transportation and pedestrian infrastructures can change so people can meet recommended levels of physical activity safely. Organizational wellness policies, municipal or state transit planning, bike/pedestrian master plans, walkability plans, and other policy tools can support physical activity and mobility regardless of age and ability.
