Juul Litigation Settlement Guide & Interactive Map
State of Minnesota v. Juul Labs, Inc. (2019)
In Re: Juul Labs, Inc., Marketing, Sales Practices, and Products Liability Litigation (2019)
Juul rocketed to the top of the U.S. e-cigarette market five years ago on the popularity of flavors like mango, mint, and crème brûlée. The startup company's rise was fueled largely by teenagers who became hooked on its high-nicotine flavored pods, leading to a youth vaping epidemic and resultant lawsuits brought by thousands of individuals, families, school districts, states, municipalities, and Native American Tribes for the deliberate and misleading marketing of vaping products to young people.
In this hour-long webinar, Public Health Law Center staff attorneys will provide an overview of the state attorney general and multidistrict litigation settlements, and the upcoming trial in San Francisco Unified School District v. Altria in which the viability of a public nuisance claim will be tested in holding industry accountable for the teen vaping crisis in schools. They will also discuss Juul Labs' financial solvency prospects, public health implications of the Juul litigation and settlements beyond just holding Juul accountable, and related issues.
