Safia is a policy analyst for the Public Health Law Center Healthy Eating and Active Living team where she works on projects focusing on advancing anti-racism and health equity goals.

Before joining PHLC, Safia worked as an HR Specialist at Hennepin Healthcare. She provided operational and administrative expertise in functional HR areas, including recruitment, benefits and wellness, employee relations, training and development, and payroll. Safia earned her MPH in Public Health Administration and Policy from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health and a B.S. in Human Resource Development and Public Health from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. While in graduate school, she worked as an intern for Hennepin County Community Health Improvement Partnership (CHIP), where she worked with a community-based organization and community members and supported the CHIP executive committee and action teams to carry out mental well-being and housing stability mini-grant projects.
