Disposing of E-Cigarette Waste: Options for New York State

Tobacco product waste, such as cigarette butts and e-cigarette devices, is toxic to the environment and deeply hazardous to the health and safety of communities. Yet misinformation abounds in this area, from the myth that cigarette butts “filter” out toxins and are made of biodegradable materials, to the false notion that e-cigarettes can be thrown away in the garbage or recycling bin. Communities in New York State, and across the country, are seeking facts and solutions as they increasingly grapple with the issue of tobacco product waste.

Watch this presentation to learn more about the research, policy, and legal landscape from experts working to address tobacco product waste in New York State.
