Adopting a strong public health focused commercial tobacco ordinance is only a first step. Local enforcement of commercial tobacco regulations requires consideration of financial feasibility and practical application for effective enforcement.
This hour-long webinar will provide an overview of best practices for the enforcement of tobacco retail licensing regulations, drawing upon on requirements in state and federal law, as well as the vast experience gleaned from local public health officials and law enforcement.
Minnesota’s law focuses enforcement on the acts of retailers to ensure their compliance with local, state and federal laws, as well as utilizing education as a mechanism of enforcement to gain understanding and compliance of retailers in the sale of commercial tobacco products.
