For the last 20 years Joey Vossen has worked at the intersection of land use law, policy and systems change to promote interdependent, resource-rich communities.  Joey joins the Public Health Law Center as a Senior Staff Attorney with the Climate Justice and Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) teams working with public health advocates, community groups, and government agencies to address the systemic impacts of environmental injustice, advance healthy food access and green, active-living resources for all.

Prior to joining PHLC, Joey was General Counsel-Vice President at Westwood Professional Services for 11 years where she led the legal team in board governance, corporate risk management, regulatory compliance and strategically integrating business goals with legal resources.  While at Westwood Joey was recognized with the MSP Business Journal Women in Business Award – 2019 and TBC Notable General Counsel - 2021.  Joey began her legal career at University of Minnesota-Law School Institute on Race and Poverty developing research on segregation in housing and land use as well as investments in protecting natural resources. Following her legal public policy work she joined Larkin Hoffman as a land use and municipal law attorney working with local civic developers and government agencies to foster collaborative solutions to land use rights and impacts.
